We took some liberties with the recipe to reduce carbohydrates.

We followed the sweetless recipe and added 6 drops of liquid stevia, and two tablespoons of powdered monk fruit (erythitrol)  to get to that dessert like feeling. We suggest starting there, and sweetening to taste for a zero net carb adder. Macros below reflect the recipe as we made it. TOTAL CALORIES PER SERVING: 112

Paleo Energy Bites First Impression:

These at first glance look like a body-builder snack. Which they really are, especially if you are currently fueling up on a low-carbohydrate; high-fat diet.  But I have to confess, for me, these worked more as a portable dessert and an early morning donut-killer.  If chocolate dough is what you’re craving, these will do the job and then some. Chai tea latte–meet  your new best friend.

I paired these with blueberries, strawberries, and blackberries to elevate their dessert appeal.

IF we HAD to complain:

You can definitely tell that there are coconut shreds in there so if that’s not your thing, steer clear. But I have to say, the coconut paired with a nut butter, really gave these little balls weight.

Worth noting:

Don’t be scared off by the fact that a serving size is only two bites. At 17g of craving crushing fat per serving, these little balls pack a mighty punch. If you’re looking for more munch time, a handful of berries goes a long way to partner these.

Takeaways:

I would go so far as to call these just shy of a superfood snack.  The ingredients can be read in one prolonged breath, and more importantly–pronounced. I have a feeling the butter coffee bliss balls would be amazing with either olive oil or ghee butter too!
